Description

We are a Leeds based community development charity whose purpose is to help people and communities flourish.

Woodhouse Community Centre has been at its present location on Woodhouse Street in Leeds since Victorian times. It has been used for several different purposes over the years, including a Library, church, school and community centre.

Our beautiful red brick Victorian building is close to the city centre and local public transport links. We have a number of rooms available to hire for meetings, conferences, weekly classes, birthday parties and more.

The largest space in the building, the Main Hall is bright and airy with high Victorian ceilings and attractive period windows.

It is a truly multi-functional space which is suitable for fitness classes, performances, market stalls, conferencing, family events and parties, or whatever you can think of.

The Main Hall is square-shaped and opens off the main reception area on the ground floor, with a second exit into the corridor for easy access to the kitchen and toilets as well as other meeting rooms. Access to the adjoining IT suite is possible if needed. The Hall also has a large white wall, perfect for projection.

Doreen Tinker Room

Café/classroom with attached kitchen on the ground floor

The Doreen Tinker room is a bright ground-floor space with the option of opening a serving hatch through to the full-size kitchen next door.

The solid, lockable hatch doors keep noise and smells from the kitchen to a minimum if the two spaces are being used for separate activities – so the Doreen Tinker room makes a great classroom, meeting room or activity room in its own right, or a convenient space for serving food and drinks prepared in the kitchen if desired. It’s also possible to project onto a plain wall in this room.

Large windows provide natural light which can be adjusted with fitted blinds to suit your needs.

The kitchen is situated on the ground floor with easy access to the Main Hall via the corridor.

It is possible to open a serving hatch through to the adjoining Doreen Tinker room (see above), or to keep the hatch closed and use the kitchen separately.

Equipment includes a six-burner gas stove and large gas oven unit, large fridge, double stainless steel sink unit, stainless steel work surface and a full set of crockery.

Ushawant Kaur Room

The Ushawant Kaur room is a large versatile first-floor space, accessible by lift and lit by south-facing windows. This room is shared with a training company so is in ready setup with training layout for 16-20 with included projection screen – suitable for classes, activity sessions, training, or meetings. Individual toilets are available on the first floor with accessible toilets downstairs easily reached by lift.

Visitors at the front entrance can ring the bell and communicate directly via intercom when reception is not staffed.
